We continue with our topic - detox. As mentioned in the introduction , I will explain how a detox can be prepared and implemented.
Since a detox is radical for some people, I'll give you a few tips on how to modify the detox a little. I would also like to mention at this point that the body is actually able to detoxify itself. By doing a detox, you can promote or stimulate detoxification through your diet .
A detox can be suitable for people who feel tired, whose digestive system is not functioning regularly, who feel over-acidic and for people who have consumed a lot of alcohol, fat, meat and white bread for a while and now want to concentrate on a healthy diet again. A detox is also suitable for raising awareness of healthy eating or for starting a change in diet.
Preparation:
1. Think about how long you want to do the detox and what time period is suitable. It can be from one day to one week. Some people repeat this one day more regularly. Most people plan a detox cure that should last 3 to 7 days 1 to 2 times a year.
2. Reduce your coffee consumption 2 weeks before and after , avoid alcohol , avoid processed food , avoid refined sugar (or maybe all sweeteners), plan a regular sleep pattern , try to drink at least 30 to 40 ml of water per kg of body weight daily (e.g. 30 ml x 60 kg = 1800 ml minimum water/herbal tea intake), avoid stress during this time, plan walks in the fresh air or gentle exercise (yoga, pilates) or do sports that you enjoy but that don't overtax you. The optimal preparation and follow-up for a detox would be the clean eating concept, which will be published in the next article.
3. Think about what kind of treatment you want to do. There are these common types:
intestinal rehabilitation (with alternative practitioner)
Juice cure - diet exclusively with juices (e.g. cold-pressed or homemade)
Ayurvedic nutrition
Acid-base fasting - alkaline diet (avoiding milk, dairy products, fish, meat, eggs, sweets and grains)
36 hours of fasting - 1 day of fasting and then healthy eating
implementation
1. Plan your preparation phase with healthy, delicious recipes. Maybe our blog will give you some ideas or you can complete our nutritional consultation and receive a 2-week meal plan.
2. Make a shopping list and buy everything.
3. Drink 1 cup of warm water with lemon juice or a few pieces of ginger every day after getting up.
4. Start your detox of choice on a weekend to get used to it.
5. Plan the first week after the treatment or repeat the recipes from the preparation.
Tip: Through conscious preparation and follow-up, you should be more aware of your food intake and be able to feel what is good for your body. During the treatment, you can also consider which healthy habits you might want to adopt and continue so that you don't immediately fall back into your old eating habits.
alternatives
Start small. A detox should not be a punishment, but should do you good. For example, choose a food that you want to avoid, such as just sugar/sweets, coffee, alcohol, bread, meat. This step will make you more aware and mindful of yourself, your body and your environment.
Our next post #3 about Clean Eating will appear on April 22, 2022.
