Tips on how to survive a possible quarantine at home

Writer's picture: Nadia BenzNadia Benz

My dears,

Even though we are currently in an exceptional situation, we would like to give you a few tips, in addition to the hygiene recommendations of the Robert Koch Institute , on how you can comfortably survive a possible quarantine at home and maintain your inner contentment. Perhaps you can also use these ideas for yourself to spend a pleasant "time out" at home.

your physical fitness

  1. Drink plenty of water and tea and try to avoid alcohol in your everyday life if possible.

  2. Keep exercising. Go jogging, walking, skating or do a workout at home. Tomorrow we will publish a new course schedule for Obertshausen and Berlin with online workouts on BeFitinLife that you can take part in.

  3. Ventilate your rooms and breathe fresh air.

  4. A walk will definitely do you a lot of good.

Exercise, nature and fresh air will also have a positive effect on your mood and of course keep you fit.

your home

  1. Use the time to implement projects that you have always wanted to do.

  2. Organize your closets and basement and clean out.

  3. If you have a garden or balcony, plant seeds. In a few weeks you will be able to enjoy the beautiful plants.

  4. Make yourself comfortable with your family so that it feels good to work, learn, play and simply hang out at home.

  5. Play good music that lifts the mood or make music together.

A good base at home is a good prerequisite for being able to deal with the chaos outside.

Culinary enjoyment at home

  1. Plan your meals and buy delicious ingredients to make it as nice as possible for you and your family. The healthier the better. Also think about healthy snacks, because you may not have to walk as much as you normally would, so your energy needs will also be lower. For ideas, we recommend our blog at www.BeFitinLife.com and Martina Zand's website www.martina-zand.com .

  2. Use a grocery delivery service to get fresh food. (e.g. Rewe, HelloFresh)

  3. Get all family members involved in cooking or baking together. Plan your menu together. It's fun and a great communal activity.

Your health and your immune system are an important prerequisite for not getting sick and this applies not only in times of Corona, but in general. The more often you cook healthy for yourself and your family, the better. Maybe new good habits will emerge here.

At home with your children

  1. Routine is important for children. Therefore: think about a daily routine for you and your children, because the children will also be missing out on their daily routines such as daycare and school. This will give the children support so that they can better cope with the situation of staying at home. Include times for school, exercise, lunch, snacks, time for relaxation, crafts, gardening, playing, etc. in your plan.

  2. Digital media can be used for Skyping with friends or for creative activities rather than just for games and films.

  3. If you are working from home and/or have deadlines to meet, then let your children in on it. Think together about what the children can do while you are working.

  4. Redesign your kitchen so that everyone can reach the most important things without constantly calling you.

  5. Take some time out for yourself, go out alone, take a walk, jog, go into the garden or read a book in another room to keep your nerves calm and recharge your energy.

  6. Get enough craft materials. Ideas for activities with children can be found on www.pinterest.com

  7. Consider whether there are any birthdays or family celebrations coming up soon and have the children prepare something for them (e.g. a show, card, picture or something similar).

  8. Maybe try to pursue hobbies at home.

Being at home together can be a big challenge. Every family interrupts its daily routine. Use the time to grow together and overcome this situation together. Try to recognize the needs of each individual family member and find a way together. Respectful interaction, love, calmness and still freedom are important ingredients.

Inner satisfaction

  1. Get the books you would like to read ready.

  2. Follow your common sense and don't let the media drive you crazy.

  3. Stay realistic and don't set your expectations or goals for the day too high.

  4. Meet friends/family in a small group or use digital media, video chats for a chat over a cup of tea or write an email or a letter.

  5. Ask yourself what could make you happy now. Try to prepare everything so that you have everything you need.

  6. If you feel depressed or annoyed, try putting on some nice music or treating yourself to a nice cup of tea.

Inner satisfaction is a big topic and everyone finds it differently. Think about how you can achieve this state at home as best as possible. Your own mindset can change your thoughts and your mood so that you stay in a good mood.

Work & Home Office

  1. Set up a nice workspace and consider what technical conditions you need.

  2. Make sure you sit ergonomically and have adequate lighting.

  3. If you are not used to working from home, remember that communication and interaction with team members are still important.

  4. Use digital options for communication and team meetings (e.g. telephone, WhatsApp, Skype, Zoom, Messenger, FaceTime and many more)

Keep yourself, your team and your colleagues up to date and use the exchange (even if not in person). This also creates bonds and cohesion,

finances

1. Have some cash at home to pay for delivery services or small purchases.

2. Consider whether online shopping is really necessary to pass the time. Perhaps now is an ideal time to save some money.

We wish you every success and look forward to hearing more ideas that you would like to share.

All love,

Your BeFitinLife Team
