Vegan speculaas spread

Today there's something for the cookie. :-)


The speculatius spread can be prepared very quickly at home. And the best thing is: today we're showing you a vegan version.



Ingredients:


  • 500 ml soy or rice cream substitute

  • Agave syrup as desired, depending on how sweet you like it

  • 5 tablespoons coconut oil

  • 2 tablespoons speculaas spice

  • 1 teaspoon agar agar


You can buy the speculaas spice in the supermarket, or you can mix it yourself (ground cinnamon, cloves, mace and star anise).

Preparation:


Put all the ingredients in a medium-sized saucepan and stir. Bring the mixture to the boil and then simmer at a medium temperature for about 20 minutes. Stir regularly. The longer it cooks, the more solid the cream will become. Turn off the stove after about 20 minutes or, if you want a firmer consistency, heat the mixture a little longer. Note, however, that the spread will become a little firmer after it cools. Pour the cream into glasses, allow to cool and then place in the fridge.
